The European Court of Human Rights has recently recognized the Immovable Property Comission which was established under Law no: 67/2005 in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) (Case of Xenides-Arestis vs. Turkey (7 December 2006) According to the referance made under this judgement,TRNC Property Commission shall have the initial compentence to decide on the restitution, exchange of properties or payment of compensation. Right of Appeal lies to the ‘’TRNC’’ High Administrative Court. So far, a total of sixty applications had been lodged by the Greek Cypriots and the examination of nine of these had already been concluded.
